Endorsement by Anthony J. Mangan, retired Magisterial District Judge

Dear Attorney Riegel:

As you are the Chairman of the Campaign for Leonard “Lenny” DeMaria, I write to you from Delaware, where I am enjoying my retirement following my 18 years of service to the Borough of Stroudsburg as its Magisterial District Judge.

As I continue to have immediate family in and around Stroudsburg, when I learned that my successor, The Honorable Kristina Anzini, was planning her retirement, I was interested to see who would be seeking election to serve my family and friends.

During my term as Judge, I came to know Leonard DeMaria first as a trusted Constable who served paperwork on persons with business before me and executed Orders of my Court. Then, after he became an Officer in the Stroud Area Regional Police, I came to know him as an honest and thorough affiant. He was fair, direct, exercised good judgment and treated all members of the community with dignity and respect. Through the years, I came to refer to him as “Lenny”, since I considered him a friend as well as a fellow public servant.

When I learned that Lenny was seeking the position, I wanted to share my enthusiasm for him as a candidate and offer my whole hearted endorsement. Lenny is exactly the type of person needed by the community to fill Judge Anzini’s vacancy. He is mature, kind, honest, thoughtful, fair, trustworthy, reasonable and, even when not in the role, has always demonstrated “judicial temperament.”

His years of experience within the District Court system as both a Constable and an Officer allow him to understand the workings of the Court and to “hit the ground running”, which is very important when replacing a judge with a long and distinguished tenure.

Please use this letter in whatever manner you believe will have the most impact for Lenny. I feel that Stroudsburg needs to elect him to this position.

 Sincerely,

Anthony J Mangan
